                    Our Team

                    We are in the process of building a team of talented and committed professionals in order to advance the work of Nature Services Peru.  We know that the quality of our service is dependant on the quality of our staff. We recruit people with a proven track record and are committed to the continuous professional development of our staff. Nature Services Peru works with a group of Associated Professionals who provide specific inputs and expertise to program development.

                    Frank Hajek, Director

                    Frank started Nature Services Peru in 2010 as a bridge for the work of Servicios Ecosistémicos Peru and commercial actors engaging with environmental credits in Peru. Before Nature Services Peru, he worked as an environment operations and appraisal engineer with Shell in the Dutch North Sea (1994-1998), as Programme Leader for the Frankfurt Zoological Society in Peru (1999-2006), as Chief Technical Advisor to the Zambia Wildlife Authority (2006-2008) and as Coordinator of the Oxford University Ecosystem Services Working Group (2008-2009). These jobs have given Frank access to political, business, academic and non-profit colleagues active in different fields of natural resource management. Frank holds a Masters in Engineering from Imperial College, London, and a MBA with distinction from Oxford University’s Said Business School. He is a Research Associate at the Oxford University Centre for the Environment, a Council member at the Oxford Centre for Tropical Forests and a Chartered Engineer with the British Engineering Council. Frank is married to biologist Jessica Groenendijk and has two children, Saba and Luca. In his spare time he enjoys fishing, cooking, nature photography and travelling to distant corners of Peru with his family.


                    Claire Chudziak, Development Manager

                    Claire is supporting Nature Services Peru in the development of an ecosystem management concept for the upper Madre de Dios river watershed. Prior to joining the Nature Services Peru team, Claire worked as a Senior Consultant for E4tech, a sustainable energy consultancy based in the United Kingdom (2006-2011). At E4tech, her work primarily focused on bioenergy (technologies, resource potential, due diligence), but also included life cycle greenhouse gas assessment, scoping of investment opportunities in renewables, and the application of innovation theory and techno-economic analysis to inform policy making. She has worked for the UK Government Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on policy and communications relating to the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (2006), for PwC in their sustainability team (2005) and at Mouchel on waste management (2004). Claire holds a first class degree in Zoology from the University of Cambridge and an MSc with Distinction in Environmental Technology and Energy Policy, from Imperial College, London. In her free time Claire enjoys swimming, hiking and being outdoors.


                    Max Jamieson, Certification and Commercialization Coordinator

                    Max starts work this coming February as the company’s Certification and Commercialization Coordinator, in charge of Project Development Documents and credit validation. Prior to joining Nature Services Peru, Max worked in both the public and private environmental sector. He was a Senior Consultant with ICF International, where he focused on climate change and energy policy analysis and on strategy development for public and private sector clients (2007-2011). He also has experience working for the UK Government through his participation in the Chief Scientific Advisor’s Placement Scheme at the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) (2006-2007), where he worked in a central strategic team on government science policy. Before this, Max worked in the public sector consulting division of PricewaterhouseCoopers in London, on transport and environment related projects (2005-2006). Max holds an MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London and a BSc in Marine Geography from the University of Wales, Cardiff. In his free time Max enjoys mountain biking, climbing and surfing.


                    Ajax Torres, Administration Coordinator

                    Ayax is responsible for administrative and communication matters . He coordinates with Gonzalez Angulo Abogados Contadores the accounts of the organization. Before joining the Nature Services Peru team, he worked as an administrator and coordinator in several companies, NGO’s and development organizations. In 2009 and 2010 he was a coordinator with the United Nations Development Program’s Project for the Reconstruction of the South after the 2007 Earthquake. In 2008 he worked as administrator for the publisher El Funicular SAC. In 2007, he was part of the solid waste management team of the environmental consultancy TECONEC SAC. Additionally, Ayax has supported the work of several important volunteering organizations. He has coordinated the Skills Training Program of the NGO ‘Un Techo para mi Pais’ and has been part of the Training Team for small entrepreneurs of the Colectivo Integral de Desarrollo. Ayax graduated in Industrial Engineering in the Ricardo Palma University (2008), and has a diploma in Environmental Management, and in Negotiations from ESAN, one of Peru’s premier business schools. In his free time, Ayax enjoys reading and writing, trekking, cooking, as well as going to the cinema and theatre.
